Craig has supported OCC in a governance role for the past three years, and with a background as a Catchment Coordinator with the NZ Landcare Trust and more recently a Project Coordinator for Otago South River Care and Pomahaka Water Care Group, he brings a wealth of experience to the role and a personal passion to protect the environment and maintain and improve water quality. 

Sam Dixon

Coastal Coordinator

As the Coastal Coordinator, I provide support to Otago’s coastal Catchment Groups to address environmental opportunities for the present and future generations.

Raised in Canterbury, I obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture from Lincoln University. Subsequently, I served in Southland’s regional council’s land management team, where I assisted farmers in navigating policy frameworks and educating them about best practices.

Nicole Sutton

Central Otago Coordinator

I work with Catchment Groups throughout Central Otago, supporting them to achieve outcomes that benefit both people and the environment.

I grew up on a dairy farm in the Waikato and now live at Fruitlands, near Alexandra. I have a Master of Science degree from the University of Waikato. I’ve worked for Department of Conservation, in various roles, but mainly with North Island brown kiwi and, more recently, with environmentally focused community groups.

Sheep & Beef Farmer from Puketi, South Otago with husband Simon and two children Fraser and Gemma. Trained and taught in both Tertiary and Secondary School sectors in the Business Administration field. Previously on the OCC Governance Committee and now the Administrator for OCC. Other current roles - Otago Regional Coordinator for the Ballance Farm Environment Awards, Otago South River Care Governance Committee, other various administrative positions and community involvement around South Otago and Clutha Valley.

Rebecca Begg

In my role as Wai Connections Coordinator, I help connect people, knowledge, and resources to support healthier waterways and resilient communities.

I live on a sheep and beef farm in South Otago with my family and bring over 20 years’ experience managing programmes and working with community groups to achieve positive environmental outcomes. I am also still heavily involved with Otago South River Care as a catchment coordinator alongside this role.

Wai Connection for Otago is managed by OCC as part of a national project led by the Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust.
